The central contracts for women’s cricketers are poised to promote Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to place; the two players in Grade A for the 2021-22 season.

Deepti Sharma, a 24-year-old all-rounder, has been in excellent form and has been promote. Similarly, Gayakwad (30) from Karnataka receives the highest grade in the contracts list; with Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Poonam Yadav also receiving Grade A with an annual retainership of INR 50 lakh. Grade B and Grade C players will be paid INR 30 lakh and INR 10 lakh per year, respectively.

The BCCI finalized 17 players for the yearly contracts at its Apex Council meeting on Wednesday; with Sneh Rana (28) making the list with Grade C and Pooja Vastrakar; who was in Grade C last year, being promote to the B category. Vastrakar has been a steady performer for India as an allrounder, and since his recovery; he has taken to the job of finisher in particular.

Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami stay in Review B, but Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey; who were clear out out of the World Cup squad, have been downgrad to Review C from Review B. Sneh Rana may be a newcomer who got; a Review C for her normal endeavors after her comeback final June after a five-year cutback. Mansi Joshi and Radha Yadav, who were on the 19-player contract list final year, aren’t on this year’s list.

With the 50- over World Cup beginning on March 4 in New Zealand; this is a significant year for women’s cricket. The BCCI is also considering launching a women’s IPL; which was recently discuss in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Governing Council. The BCCI intends to start the women’s IPL next year if everything goes according to plan.

Central Contracts for Women:

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Poonam Yadav, Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Grade A (INR 50 lakh)

Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Tanya Bhatia, Shafali Verma, and Pooja Vastrakar are in Grade B (INR 30 lakh).

Poonam Raut, Shikha Pandey, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Harleen Deol; Arundhati Reddy, Sneh Rana are in Grade C (INR 10 lakh).
