Nathan Lyon of Australia took his 400th Test wicket on Saturday, joining a select group of players who have achieved the feat.
The 34-year-old off-spinner, who has spent a decade with the side, dismissed Dawid Malan for 82 on the fourth day of the first Ashes Test against England in Brisbane. Because they had played so much against one other, he picked England captain Joe Root as his 400th scalp before the Test.
Nathan Lyon, whose biggest haul to far was an 8-50 against India in Bengaluru in 2017, said:

He had to settle for Malan, with Marnus Labuschagne catching the ball from a ridiculous mid-off position. Root, on the other hand, was uncomfortable. And was caught behind by Alex Carey off Cameroon Green’s bowling soon after for 89.
It put England on 229-4 in their second innings, 49 runs behind Australia.
Lyon became only the 16th player in the world to do so in his 101st Test. And only the third Australian after Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka leads the all-time Test wicket-takers list with 800, followed by Warne on 708.
Jimmy Anderson, who is third on the list with 632 runs. Was left out of the Brisbane Test, as was fellow paceman Stuart Broad, who is sixth on the list with 524 runs.
Lyon’s next target is Curtley Ambrose, a West Indian legend with 405 wickets.
