PCB officials are being investigated after they were spot at a casino in Colombo. The event drew the attention of the ICC because visiting gaming establishments is absolutely prohibit under its Anti-Corruption Code.
Umar Farooq Kalson, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) media manager, and Adnan Ali, the PCB’s general manager for international cricket, have come under scrutiny after being sighted at a casino in Colombo during the Asia Cup 2023.
Notably, the officials’ actions are likely to attract the attention of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit. As visiting gambling establishments is severely prohibit under the Anti-Corruption Code of the world cricket body. Following intense criticism, Kalson and Ali maintain that their visit to the casino for supper, which the restaurant confirm.
Cricket writer Omair Alavi questioned the officials’ assertion, asking, ‘Who are they trying to fool?’
“Who goes to a casino to eat? Goes to a gaming establishment for food? Who are they trying to deceive? Many people do not believe the excuse that they went to a casino for dinner. “It’s a little difficult to swallow. ” Alavi reported in The Tribune as saying.

Fans have called them “immature” and “careless,” and have call their professionalism into doubt.
Meanwhile, Shakil Shaikh, a journalist, shared his thoughts on X, recalling a similar situation from the past.
“PCB media officials Umer Farooq Kalson and Adnan Ali having a good time in a casino in Colombo. Cricket fans recall that Chief Selector/Manager Moin Khan recall during World Cup 2015 and sack by PCB Chairman Sheharyar Khan when he seen in a casino in Christchurch New Zealand. ” Shaikh wrote on X while sharing the video of PCB officials at the casino.
Moin Khan, Pakistan’s former captain who also serve as manager and top selector for the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, was spotted at a casino in Christchurch with his wife a day before the match against the West Indies.
While Moin Khan, in his justification, claimed that the visit was strictly for dinner. Then PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan clarified that his actions were against the code of conduct. Shaharyar Khan, the then-PCB chairman, confirm that Moin Khan’s activities were against the code of conduct, despite his argument that the visit was only for dinner.
