Bowlers overwhelm Jersey as Ireland completes a four-match winning streak in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. Ireland Men won their fourth game in a row with a dominating bowling performance against Jersey in their ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.

EDINBURGH, Scotland – Ireland improved to four victories from four games with a nine-wicket victory over Jersey in their ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier at the Goldenacre Sports Ground.

Ireland’s seam attack of Barry McCarthy, Mark Adair, Curtis Campher. Josh Little decimated the Jersey batting lineup, and the top-order took care of business, reaching their mark in eleven overs.

Ireland made one change from the lineup that defeated Austria the day before, with Andrew Balbirnie replacing Ross Adair.

While pursuing a modest 79-run victory, Ireland got off to a flying start. Scoring nine runs off the opening over, including a well-executed blast through the off-side field for four runs by Balbirnie.

Balbirnie then blasted back-to-back sixes, followed by a cover drive for four, and Ireland looked to be in cruise control, with the score at 29-0 after three overs. However, while attempting his preferred sweep shot, he was defeated by a slower ball from Benjamin Ward for 25.

Lorcan Tucker stepped in at three and scored his 1,000th T20I run with a single first ball.

Ireland were never in jeopardy in the chase, and it was only natural that the captain, Stirling, concluded the game in style with a six towards mid-wicket.

Earlier in the day, after being put in to bat, Jersey struggled from the first ball, with only one of their hitters reaching double figures.

Seamer with the left arm Little took two wickets in his first delivery, both for ducks, Julius Sumerauer and Nick Greenwood.

Jersey were 25-5 after just seven overs, thanks to the wickets of Harrison Carlyon (7), Jonty Jenner (7), and Ward (3).

Teenager Asa Tribe did play some superb shots, notably hitting Little for six in the tenth over. Their first of the match, and following it up with a boundary as he moved onto 23 from 21 balls.

Josh Lawrenson then elected to bowl leg-spinner Ben White in the following over. He was caught in the deep by George Dockrell, who was making his 300th appearance for Ireland across all formats.

Asa and Zak Tribe bowled successive overs as Ireland eventually reduced Jersey to 78-9, with McCarthy collecting 3-7 from his four overs.

Ireland will get a well-deserved day off tomorrow before returning to the same site at 10.30 a.m. Ireland time to face Germany.
