Hashmatullah Shahidi discusses Afghanistan’s morale following Rashid Khan’s comeback to the ODI set-up

Hashmatullah Shahidi discusses Afghanistan’s morale following Rashid Khan’s comeback to the ODI set-up. On July 5, Bangladesh will play Afghanistan in the first of three one-day internationals.

Afghanistan gained a significant boost recently when talented all-rounder Rashid Khan joined their ODI squad for the forthcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh. It is worth mentioning that both teams will play three one-day internationals (ODIs), followed by two Twenty20 Internationals. The first One-Day International (ODI) is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, July 5 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Bangladesh.

Notably, Rashid Khan was sidelined for the one-off Test against Afghanistan in order to allow him to heal from a lower back ailment.

In Rashid absence, Afghanistan suffered a humiliating setback against Bangladesh

Rashid’s return to the squad for the limited-overs series, on the other hand, would undoubtedly increase their chances. Reflecting on the situation, ODI captain Hashmatullah Shahidi spoke about how significant Rashid’s return to the team is.

“Of course, he’s a big man for us (Rashid).” As a captain, I feel very confident when he is with us; it’s a good sign for us. He did not play in the Test, but he is now available for the ODI series. Cricbuzz quoted Hashmatullah Shahidi as stating, “And I know he will do good for us.”

“We learned a lot from the Test game.” So we are now fully prepared. We spent the last 14 days in Abu Dhabi at a camp. So we’re ready for anything that was lacking from the Test. Nonetheless, some ODI players did not make the Test lineup. We have no idea what will happen. “We’ve planned for everything,” he added.

Furthermore, Shahidi reflected on the fact that Bangladesh are a formidable ODI team, and facing them at home may prove to be an even greater challenge for Afghanistan. However, the ODI captain backed his team to put up a great performance and recover from the one-off Test setback.

“Bangladesh always performs well at home.” They have also performed well in ODIs in recent years. “However, we have also played good cricket in the last two years,” Shahidi stated.
