To avoid a clash with the PSL, PCB may postpone the West Indies series in 2024. According to reports, the PSL 2024 season will take place between February 12 and March 10.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to postpone the home series against the West Indies. Which was schedule to begin in February 2024. The objective behind this decision is to open up a window for the new PSL, which is set to begin at the same time.

According to sources, the PCB’s management, led by Najam Sethi, has also requested that the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) alter the upcoming edition of the ILT20 (International League T20) to avoid overlapping with the PSL.

Notably, according to the ICC’s Future Tour Programmes (FTP), Pakistan will host the West Indies for two Tests and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in early 2024. According to reports, Pakistan’s cricket governing body considered surrendering the home series in order to protect the PSL, but is currently in talks with numerous stakeholders about the future of the bilateral series as well as the next edition of the PSL.

Meanwhile, if Pakistan plans to host the series after the PSL

Many West Indian cricketers may opt out because it will directly conflict with the 17th edition of the IPL. When New Zealand visited Pakistan in April and May 2023, the same issue happened because several cricketers were unavailable for selection owing to the IPL. If the visiting team’s key players do not show up, this may have an impact on their revenue.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the PCB is currently planning to strike a deal with the ECB. In which they will allow Pakistan players to participate in 2nd edition of the ILT20 if the organizing committee plans to wrap up the tournament ten days before the PSL, which set to begin on February 12.

The tournament also expanded by two additional franchises, making it an eight-team game. The finance department is presently investigating the options. The same communicate to the other six existing teams. However, there are several issues that must be addressed, such as the finance distribution model.
