In the same vein, restructuring the domestic set-up, which will focus more on playing red-ball cricket. Aside from that, one of the key recommendations was to use Kookaburra balls. Which last longer than Duke balls, which are commonly use in England.

As a result, most counties rejected two significant proposals. Reduced County Championship games and specific slots for limited-overs cricket on the domestic circuit. While they request that the restructuring be delayed until 2024, 12 counties voted against the white-ball cricket proposal. As a result, both propose revisions were defeat in the voting.

As a result, despite providing so much to English cricket in various roles, the ECB announce on Friday that Strauss will step aside from both jobs as part of reforms to the cricket governing body’s boardroom arrangement. Strauss has held the position since September 2020. The 46-year-old will officially stand down at the ECB’s Annual General Meeting next month.

“I’ve had a great time at the ECB and am proud to have contributed to our England teams’ success.” With expanding obligations outside of the organization, I’ve decided to leave my current position. “I wish the new board all the best as it continues its mission to grow our game. ” Strauss quote by ESPN Cricinfo as saying.

However, the ECB’s chief executive, Richard Thompson, thanked Strauss for his many years of service to English cricket. Furthermore, he expressed hope that the experienced player and administrator would return to the ECB in some capacity to contribute to the game’s future growth.

“Andrew has given outstanding service to English cricket in a variety of roles for many years.” I’ve treasured his advise and skills during my tenure as chair, and I’ve liked working with him. We are presently adopting the vast majority of his remarkable High Performance Review suggestions, which I believe will assist our England men’s teams maintain their success. “I have no doubt he has much more to offer the game and hope to see him back in the future,” Thompson said.

Meanwhile, in terms of board changes, the ECB has appointed four non-executive directors to its management, including Penny Avis, Baroness Zahida Manzoor, Jennifer Owen Adams, and Gareth Williams. The board is also in the process of appointing two new cricket directors in non-executive capacities.
