Virat Kohli criticizes RCB teammates following KKR’s defeat in the IPL 2023. KKR defeated RCB by 21 runs to move up to the number Seven spot in the IPL points table

After losing by 21 runs to the Kolkata Knight Riders at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 26, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s stand-in skipper, Virat Kohli, criticize his teammates, pointing out that their fielding wasn’t up to par, while the middle order hitters looked quite ordinary once again. The 34-year-old also stated that RCB eventually lost the game due to two drop catches.

Notably, KKR skipper Nitish Rana drop twice in the first innings before scoring 48 runs off only 21 deliveries. Rana’s knock transform the complexion of the game just as the Knight Riders were struggling to get going, and Virat cite it as one of the reasons for their fourth defeat in the present IPL 2023 season.

“To be honest, we handed the game over to them. We had every right to lose. Lacked professionalism. We bowled well, but our fielding was subpar. This was a free gift given to them. We blew two chances on the field, costing us 25-30 runs. “We set ourselves up very well when batting, but then (suffered) four-five soft dismissals,” Kohli remarked at the post-match presentation.

Virat Kohli analyses RCB’s performance against KKR

Even though Virat Kohli’s fantastic half-century set the tone for RCB, they collapsed like a house of cards soon after his removal. When asked to evaluate their performance, the great batter claimed that they were one partnership away from winning the game. The 34-year-old also stated that batsmen cannot afford to throw out soft plays and must take more responsibility.

“They weren’t wicket-taking balls, but we hit them straight to the fielders.” Even when we were chasing and had lost wickets, one partnership got us back into the game. We were missing one collaboration. We need to keep focused and not give up easy plays. On the road, we’ve won one and lost one. It is not anything that causes us concern. “To be in good shape for the later stages of the tournament, we need to win some away games,” Virat said.

Meanwhile, following this loss, Bangalore remained fifth on the IPL Points Table, while Kolkata climbed to seventh.
