Suryakumar Yadav discusses exceeding expectations at the highest level. Yadav faces high expectations from everyone whenever he bats, and he discusses how he handles such pressure.
Suryakumar Yadav has stated that it is quite challenging to consistently achieve excellent outcomes at the international level.
Suryakumar has become a big name in T20 cricket, and his climb in 2022 has been nothing short of spectacular. He has every stroke in his repertoire and is always one step ahead of the bowler. He just understands what shot to play based on the field and the bowler. The right-handed hitter plays the same manner in every game and knows how to deal with pressure in big games.
When asked how he handles the expectations and pressure on BCCI.TV, he said, “It’s enjoyable. It feels fantastic. You receive that recognition whenever you travel to a different city. At the same time, you may forget what you were doing before accomplishing all of this and how you got here. It can be challenging at times, but I simply strive to stay the same.”
Suryakumar Yadav was then asked how excited he is for the impending ODI possibilities.
“I have always liked playing this format, and I am really looking forward to doing well in this competition,” he stated. Nothing changes at the same time. The goal and energy are the same.”
“I suppose I try to play scenarios, whatever situation I bat in,” Surya said. If I am hitting at 4, 5, or 6, I consider the scenario and what the team need at the time. I basically go through the motions with whatever the team requires.”
Despite his success in T20Is, the versatile hitter has yet to establish his worth in ODIs. He has an average of less than 30 after 17 games in the format for India. Suryakumar will be looking forward to the forthcoming chance against New Zealand, as he will most likely start all three matches in the absence of Shreyas Iyer.
