Ramiz Raja Responds to Pakistan’s Batting Unit Criticism. After failing to win the Asia Cup, Pakistan was defeated 3-4 at home by England in a seven-match T20I series. Babar Azam’s men, on the other hand, appear to be making progress in the tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
The Pakistan cricket team has recently come under fire, particularly for the manner in which they lost the Asia Cup 2022 final to Sri Lanka. While the openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, have been consistent, the middle order appears to be in flux. Talks of reintroducing a veteran player like Shoaib Malik into the team, as was done in the previous T20 World Cup, have also surfaced. When asked about it, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja had a rather unique perspective.

Pakistan has not been at their best in the run-up to the T20 World Cup in 2022.
After failing to win the Asia Cup, Pakistan was defeated 3-4 at home by England in a seven-match T20I series. Babar Azam’s men, on the other hand, appear to be making progress in the tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
Pakistan defeated Bangladesh and New Zealand in their first two series matches. However, there are still concerns about the team’s middle order. Ramiz Raja was asked by Geo News about the current state of affairs and how Pakistan intends to address the situation.
Raj responded sarcastically, saying that it’s not like Pakistan has Lionel Messi on the bench and a ‘raddi’ player is playing instead.
“We did it in the previous T20 World Cup (selecting Shoaib Malik). I have no reservations about doing it again. My philosophy is straightforward: consistency in selection is essential. You’ll also need a capable captain. We don’t have Lionel Messi on our bench, and we haven’t chosen particularly bad players. We only have a few options “Ramiz stated on a Pakistani television channel.
“We’re working on our junior leagues to expand our options and talent pool; at the moment, it’s a bit hit-or-miss, but my philosophy is to make the captain strong. You should let him choose which players to give a chance to “He continued.
In the middle order, Pakistan has a number of inexperienced players such as Shan Masood, Mohammad Nawaz, Iftikhar Ahmed, and others. Pakistan fans will be hoping that these players will be ready in time for the T20 World Cup, which begins in just a few days.
