Scott Boland has been called up by Australia to provide fast-bowling cover for the third Ashes Test. While a medical team analyzes the fast-bowling group, the selectors decide for more cover.

After Cummins was forced to withdraw from the second Test, Australia was captained by Steven Smith. Josh Hazlewood, who was out with a side strain, was replaced by Jhye Richardson and Michael Neser. Mitchell Starc also looked to have a pain in his back while batting in Adelaide’s second session.
While both Cummins and Hazlewood were in the squad for the third Test, Boland has been added “while the medical team reviews the fast bowling group.” Australia won the Test by 275 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

In the Sheffield Shield this year, taking 15 wickets at an average of just 10.80 in two matches – both against New South Wales
Boland also played for Australia A against the England Lions earlier this month in Brisbane, when he took 1 for 16 and 1 for 64 before joining the Australia squad in Adelaide.
On Boxing Day, the third Ashes Test will begin at the MCG in Melbourne.
