Former Australian, New South Wales, Australian test cricket player Peter Philpott died at the age of 86 after a long fight against illness.
A leg-spinning all-rounder and former australia New South Wales captain. Tested eight times in the 1960s, averaging 38.46 and 26 wickets.
Philpott made his test debut against the West Indies in Kingston in 1965, winning 256 and 4109 balls.
On that tour, he won 18 wickets at 34.94 and then 590 in the first ash test against England later that year.
Unfortunately, he played only two more games in Australia. During that ash streak and took two wickets before retiring at the age of 31 during 1963/64. And 1964/65 Sheffield Shield seasons.
He scored 153 points against Queensland in his first New South Wales captain. And 10 wickets (3) against Victoria in his second New South Wales captain. / 45 7/71) was won.

Former Australia Test Spinner Peter Philpott is one of only 10 players who won the 1st century (125) and 5 wickets (6/65). In the same game. This is a feat for Western Australia in 196465.
In 2004 he was honored as a lifetime member of the NSW Cricket Association.
“I’d like to pass on my deepest condolences from everyone at Cricket NSW to Peter’s family and friends,” Germon said in a statement by Cricket NSW.
A strong supporter of spin bowling, Philpot participated in coaching and held stints with many teams including New South Wales, South Australia, Yorkshire, Sally, Manly, Mosman and Sri Lanka. In addition to cricket, Philpott worked as a teacher for 50 years.
“Any player that has reached the heights Peter did, in playing for his country. And captaining his state, will long be remembered by the game. After his decorated playing career Peter was an outstanding coach and educator who was involved in cricket. In Sydney’s north for more than six decades,” he added.
Cricket New South Wales CEO Lee Germon pays tribute to Philpot’s contribution to cricket.
The death of the Philpott occurs the day after the death of legendary New South Wales and Australian all-rounder Alan Davidson.
