Mohammed Siraj discusses his financial difficulties as a young cricketer. Siraj said that his father only gave him INR 70 each day.
Mohammed Siraj, the India bowler, has had a challenging career, and the player from Hyderabad recently opened out about his hardships. Coming from a low-income family, his late father used to provide him only INR 70 per day to play cricket, which was eventually tough because a cricketer often need a large sum of money to follow his ambition.
Siraj added that he used to spend forty rupees of the above-mentioned amount on gas and the remainder on other things or saved it. The 29-year-old also stated that other players used to arrive in Mercedes and BMWs, whilst he arrived on Platina (his motorcycle).

I used to skip college to play cricket, and only my father would come to my rescue at home: Siraj
When asked about his connection with his father, Siraj stated that his mother used to criticize him for playing cricket, but his father was always there to support and save him at home. The Hyderabad-born pacer also discussed skipping college to play cricket, as well as the first time he won money from playing cricket.
“‘Your elder brother is an engineer,’ my mother used to reprimand me. ‘How long will you let your time pass?’ I used to skip college to play cricket. At home, only my father could save me. He has done so much for me.
“After 2013 (when his father said it was fine not to study),” he says. In 2016, I represented Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy. But before that, I used to play in a Hyderabad league. In my debut game for my uncle’s club, I took 9 wickets. “I received INR 500 as prize money and donated 300 rupees at home,” Siraj continued.
