Mark Wood has left the Lucknow Super Giants camp to attend to the birth of his daughter. In four IPL 2023 matches, Wood took 11 wickets.
Mark Wood, the world’s fastest man, is preparing to return to England for the birth of his daughter. The Lucknow Super Giants confirmed the news by releasing a video of him in the early hours of May 8. Meanwhile, while he intends to return later if LSG makes the playoffs, his odds are slim at the moment, as he was seen signing the autographs of many of his teammates before departing camp.
Meanwhile, in the current season, Wood has appeared in four matches for LSG, taking 11 wickets. He appeared to be in excellent form before contracting the virus, at which point Naveen-ul-Haq replaced him in the lineup, and Wood never got another chance. However, he hopes to recharge well and return stronger in the future.
“In honor of the birth of my daughter.” So, regretfully, but for a good reason, I must return home. Hopefully, I will be able to return, and you will be able to see me again. “I’m sorry that I haven’t played more, but in the four games that I have played, I’ve managed to get a few wickets and hopefully, I can charge in again,” Wood stated in a video shared by LSG on their Twitter profile.
“There’s a lot of teamwork here. “I really like the team, the backroom staff are great, and it’s been great to see the lads do well throughout the tournament,” the 33-year-old added.

One last push and get into those playoffs and make it to the finals: Wood
Before departing the camp, Wood encouraged his colleagues to strive harder at the end of the competition in order to qualify for the IPL playoffs and, finally, the finals. He also stated that the players are working hard in training and that they expect the supporters to support them as the season progresses.
“One last push to get into those playoffs and make it to the championship game.” That is the aim, and we as a group understand that. Sports are difficult; you win some and lose some, but the men are working hard. There are some wonderful individuals in the group, and they will go to any length to help your team. So keep believing and supporting them, and I am confident they will succeed,” Wood added.
