Not taking extra pressure because of captaincy tag: Rana. Kolkata Knight Riders named Nitish Rana as the new skipper in the absence of injured Shreyas Iyer.
On March 27, the Kolkata Knight Riders picked star batter Nitish Rana as their new captain as the organization sought to move past its leadership crisis. Rana’s nomination as a new captain surprised supporters because the player lacked leadership experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On March 28, Rana said that he is willing to take on additional responsibilities and shrugged off captaincy-tag pressure.
The 29-year-old batsman captained Delhi in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Cup, which they won eight of twelve games. But, Rana will face new obstacles as the captain of one of the top IPL clubs. Rana smashed all suggestion of added pressure in a formal news conference on Tuesday, March 28. He stated that he will not be subjected to increased strain as a result of his leadership and that he enjoys taking on new duties.

“There is a responsibility, and I enjoy accepting it. Shreyas Iyer had a terrible injury, as we all know. It’s quite sad, and we only found out about the absence of such a senior and key player at the last minute. Yet, if you set that aside, the team appears to be in terrific shape. And I believe that the approach we are following with this team will provide the desired outcomes.”

With only six victories, the Kolkata Knight Riders finished eighth in the IPL points standings previous season. Rana struggled throughout the season, allowing 361 runs in 14 innings and striking out only twice. Rana’s captaincy will be put to the test against Punjab Kings on April 1 in Mohali.
