Kagiso Rabada ruled out of the Ireland T20Is due to ankle injury

Kagiso Rabada ruled out of the Ireland T20Is due to ankle injury. South Africa will play two Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland before three Tests against England.

The Proteas medical team has ruled South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada out of the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland due to a left medial ankle injury. South Africa’s team arrived in Bristol recently after winning the T20I series against England.

Rabada is one of the best pacers in the world. His injury means he will be a doubtful starter in the upcoming three-match Test series against England. The 28-year-old was unable to play in the series-clinching T20I against England. His absence in the red-ball series will be a significant blow for the visitors.

He will continue to receive medical care and rehabilitation

Kagiso progress will be closely monitored by the medical team in preparation for the Test series. Cricket South Africa has not provided a timetable for his return.

South Africa will face a tough test against a resurgent English red-ball side that has rolled over strong opponents such as New Zealand and India after some breath-taking batting displays under Brendon McCullum’s new regime.

Meanwhile, Lawson Naidoo, the CSA Board Chairperson, congratulated the South African team on their historic victory in the T20I series against England, their first on English soil in 13 years. He praised the team’s character and grit during a difficult series, as well as the current team’s progress.

“CSA is proud of the team’s character and congratulates them on this win, which is a precursor to more to come.” We congratulate the Team and its management on this outstanding victory. The Proteas have written themselves into history by defeating England in an away T20 series, a moment we have been waiting for since 2009. “This victory demonstrates the Proteas’ progress and provides a solid foundation for future success,” Naidoo said.
