According to India head coach Rahul Dravid, the addition of Dinesh Karthik as a “enforcer” opens up a lot of options heading into the T20 World Cup. Dravid wants to identify a core group of 18-20 players by the end of the England series. To be a part of the World T20 squad, Dravid will need to do more than just “knock on the door. ” Anyone who wants to be a part of that squad of 15 must “bang it down.” “It was great to see Karthik go off and do what he was assigned to do. That was good, and it gives us a lot more options in the future. ” Dravid made the remarks after the five-match series against South Africa ended in a 2-2 tie.

“He picked for what he has been doing exceptionally well for the last two or three years (in IPL) and kind of indicated in the sense that it almost came together in the game at Rajkot,” Dravid said of the Tamil Nadu dasher’s 27-ball-55, which critical in India regaining series parity.
Karthik and Hardik Pandya are Dravid’s two “enforcers” in the death overs.
“We needed that big performance in the last five overs to get to par, and he and Hardik batted brilliantly. Finally, both of them are enforcers for us. ” Dravid outlined the role that the team’s management has in mind for Karthik.
Karthik has made a strong case for himself heading into the T20 World Cup, according to the coach.
“I was telling the guys that you have to start banging the door down. Not just knocking it down, and innings like that (Rajkot fifty) mean he’s knocking very hard,” Dravid said.
