Sandeep Lamichhane, a 21-year-old legspinner, has been named captain of Nepal, a key step in elevating the 21-year-profile old’s in his homeland. Lamichhane succeeds Gyanendra Malla, who is now playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League in his fourth season.
In 2016 and 2017, the legspinner captained Nepal Under-19s.

Chhumbi Lama said:
“Taking action is not a solution as we have to play important matches in the near future. But, they didn’t agree. This decision is wrong; it will not benefit Nepali cricket,”
The cricket governing body had twice sought clarification from the players but had come to the conclusion that their answers were insufficient.
In Group A of the T20 World Cup qualifying, Team Nepal will face Ireland, Canada, Oman, Philippines, Germany, and Bahrain. If they qualify, they will join Namibia, Scotland, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka in a quest for two positions in the ‘Super 12‘ teams for next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
