Paras Mhambrey said “Everyone in Team Is Backing Ajinkya Rahane And Cheteshwar Pujara”

Paras Mhambrey according to India’s newly-appointed bowling coach, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have the support of the squad, who, like head coach Rahul Dravid, knows the “value” the right-handers offer to the side.

Highlights

  • Runs have been scarce for Ajinkya Rahane and Chetshwar Pujara.
  • The Indians’ administration, on the other hand, is prepared to ‘back’ the seasoned batters.
  • Paras Mhambrey, India’s bowling coach, stated that Pujara and Rahane are important players.

The form of senior hitters Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara has been a big source of concern for Team India.

Rahane’s average in the 16 Test matches he’s played in the last two years is merely 24.39, with only one century – against Australia in Melbourne – and two fifties to his name.

Pujara, on the other hand, has not made a century in his previous 16 Tests and has an average of just 27.65, which is much below his career average of 45.11. The Indian team’s administration, on the other hand, is strongly in support of the experienced cricketers.

Paras Mhambrey, India’s new bowling coach, like head coach Rahul Dravid, stated Rahane and Pujara have the squad’s “backing” because they understand the “importance” the right-handers offer to the team.

Paras Mhambrey stated in a press conference on Wednesday:

“Both Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, in my opinion, have sufficient experience. They’ve played enough cricket, and we all know they’re just one inning away from regaining their form. Everyone on the team is rooting for them and supporting them. We understand how important they are to the team. They have enough cricket experience to know what is required of them “

Focus on development of players, says India U-19 head coach Mhambrey | Cricket News - Times of India

In the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur, Rahane and Pujara were both removed cheaply in both innings.

The most outstanding Indian batter on display in Kanpur was debutant Shreyas Iyer, who got the chance because usual captain Virat Kohli was resting. On his Test debut, he became the first Indian male to hit 150 runs. With Kohli returning to Mumbai for the second Test, India faces a difficult decision.

Many observers believe that dropping Iyer after such a strong start would be unjust, but if the Indian support staff’s opinions are to be believed, Rahane and Pujara will not be dropped for the Mumbai Test.

To clinch the series, India will need to win the second and final Test, which begins on Friday. The first Test concluded in an exciting stalemate.
