Rohit Sharma, India’s T20 captain, stated on Tuesday that his players were “not machines” and needed to recover ahead of a home match against New Zealand just days after the World Cup.
New Zealand’s tour begins with the first of three Twenty20 internationals on Wednesday, only three days after the Kiwis lost in the Dubai tournament’s final.
The matches take place in three Indian cities and conclude barely four days before the Tests in Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (November 30-31). (Dec 3-7).

“We place a high value on task management. The players are not robots. It’s vital to take a break “With India’s new coach, Rahul Dravid, by his side, Sharma gave a virtual press conference.
“Some athletes, especially those who have been playing for a long time, require relaxation in order to stay active. We want all of our boys to be mentally prepared for the upcoming trials ” he added.
Virat Kohli, India’s Test captain, has withdrawn from the T20 series and will also miss the first Test.
Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, is also unavailable for the short-format matches, but will play in Kanpur.
Dravid, a former batting champion, believes cricketers should follow footballers’ lead in terms of workload management.
