Venkatesh Iyer seems to love playing against Mumbai Indians: Mike Hesson. In the critical match versus MI, Iyer scored 42 runs off 21 balls.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs on Saturday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, claiming their ninth IPL victory of 2024. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 157 runs in the rain-affected match and held Mumbai Indians to 139 from their 16-over quota, becoming the first team to qualify for the play-offs this season. Brett Lee commented on Varun Chakaravarthy: “He bowled beautifully.” He tried to pick the hard length, but he hit the ball short in the wicket, preventing the batsmen from getting underneath it and making cross-bat strokes tough.”

RP Singh commented on the KKR spinners
“They bowl as a partnership, they know the conditions well, and they used them to good use. They bowled nice distances and took full advantage of the matchups. Sunil Narine maintained it tight against Rohit, allowing Varun to bowl freely; he used his variations effectively and bowled efficiently. These two have bowled well on a constant basis; even when they do not take wickets, they effectively restrict the flow of runs.”
Mike Hesson commented about Venkatesh Iyer: “He seems to like playing against the Mumbai Indians. He was knocked on the knee previously, but it didn’t appear to stop him. He timed everything perfectly, batted with a strike rate of over 200, and when everyone else was struggling with the seaming ball, he played the game-winning shot.”
After winning a match that was cut short due to rain, KKR became the first team to earn a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will play their remaining games for pride despite having already been eliminated from the IPL 2024.
