Ben Stokes England’s great all-rounder disclosed details of an incident in his hotel room where he nearly choked on a tablet just before the Ashes.
Prior to the Ashes, Stokes gave harrowing details about the occurrence in his hotel room, claiming that the medication became lodged in his windpipe.

“I felt this might be the end until it actually came out,” he added. “I was alone in my room, unable to breathe as it became trapped and began to dissolve.” My mouth felt like it was on fire.
“Without getting into too much detail,” Stokes wrote in his DailyMail column, “I have never seen as much saliva as I did on Sunday morning; it was a very frightening event.”
In July, Stokes took an extended hiatus from cricket to focus on his mental health while recovering from a second operation on a fractured finger, and he was a late inclusion to England’s team for the tour of Australia.
The 30-year-old started his finger injury was healing nicely and that he was in terrific mental shape.
He was given another scare during practice when he took a ball to his forearm. Which left him in severe pain.
Stokes said:
“I couldn’t raise it… I believed it was shatter.” “Thankfully, after I got back in the dressing room, the pain and reaction subsided, and the physios were able to confirm it wasn’t a break.”
“It wasn’t until I return to my hotel room that I realized what an eventful day I’d had. I was fatigue since the adrenaline had gone off. I’m glad I’m alive to tell the tale, but I’m hopeful my pre-test woes are now behind me.”
The five-match series is set to begin on Dec. 8 in Brisbane. After a 2-2 tie in England, Australia retained the Ashes in 2019.
