Mickey Arthur discusses how strict security has affected Pakistan. “As a Pakistan team, we play a hell of a lot of cricket, so being on the road is nothing new for these guys.” Arthur added.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan has enjoyed a wild journey in the current ODI World Cup 2023. With seven games played thus far in the competition, the team has three victories and four defeats. Following their efforts, the Men in Green are sixth in the rankings, with six points in seven games.
Due to the political turmoil between the two nations, it was expected that the squad would face various travel restrictions and intense security when they arrived in India for the coveted competition. However, according to Mickey Arthur, the side’s team director, the rigorous security has taken its toll on Pakistan.
Arthur spoke out about how difficult it has been for Pakistan owing to the strict security, and he even likened it to the COVID era.
“We play a lot of cricket as a Pakistan team, so being on the road is nothing new for these guys.” “What’s been difficult is that we’ve been under a lot of security,” Arthur was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“So, I’ve sort of retracted that. To be honest, I’ve finding it challenging. It’s almost as if we’re back in COVID, when you were nearly sequestered to your floor and team room. So much so that their breakfast is in a separate container.

Arthur also discussed how stringent security and travel limitations have impacted the players. He noted that the team has organized entertaining small activities, but that this is insufficient.
“It most certainly does. It very certainly occurs, and I’ve seen it with certain players where it has occurred; you wake up and it’s like Groundhog Day. It’s the same thing. “You eat breakfast, and if it’s not a training day, you go back to your room,” Arthur explained.
“We’ve tried to have fun team events and things like that in our team room.” But, you know, you can only duplicate so much. I believe the men have been out three times – we’ve managed to get them out to a different restaurant or something, just to give them a flavor of the outside world,” he said.
