The Indian Premier League player auction for the IPL 2024 season will take place on December 19 in Dubai. With teams having till November 26 to notify retentions. Notably, this would be the first time the auction has been place outside of India, with each club receiving INR 100 crore (roughly USD 12.02 million) to develop their squads for the upcoming season. The purse has been enhanced by INR 5 crore over the previous season, which was INR 95 crore.
However, on the auction day, each team’s purse will be adjust based on the worth of the players they’ve released and their unutilized purse from the 2023 season. Punjab Kings now hold the greatest purse of INR 12.20 crore (USD 1.47 million), while Mumbai Indians have the least at INR 0.05 crore (USD 0.006 million). Aside from these, Sunrisers Hyderabad has INR 6.55 crore (USD 0.79 million); Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals have INR 4.45 crore (USD 0.54 million each); and Lucknow Super Giants have INR 3.55 crore (USD 0.43 million).
Furthermore, the Rajasthan Royals have USD 3.35 crore (USD 0.40 million); the Royal Challengers Bangalore have INR 1.75 crore (USD 0.21 million); the Kolkata Knight Riders have INR 1.65 crore (USD 0.2 million); and the reigning champions have INR 1.5 crore (USD 0.18 million).

Mitchell Starc to return in IPL after eight years
Several major names are likely to enter the auction, including famous Australian seamer Mitchell Starc, who announced his return to the T20 spectacular after an eight-year absence. His colleague and captain of the Australian squad, Pat Cummins, is also expected to bid. Other prominent players expected to be auctioned off include Travis Head, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales, Sam Billings, and Gerald Coetzee.
