Deep Dasgupta shares his thoughts on Arshdeep Singh’s recent performances. In his last game against the Mumbai Indians, Arshdeep Singh gave up 66 runs and grabbed one wicket.
On Wednesday, May 3, the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings faced the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Batting first, Punjab amassed a staggering 214 runs for Mumbai to chase. During the run chase, however, the hosts’ bowling unit, particularly Arshdeep Singh, was thoroughly beaten. The Indian bowler gave up 66 runs and only managed to take one wicket.
Reflecting on Arshdeep’s recent performances, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta has stated that the 24-year-old is currently in the incorrect frame of mind and that one solid spell is all he needs to get back in the groove.
“In the last few games, Punjab’s bowling unit has gone for a lot of runs.” I don’t think it enhances their confidence. Someone like Arshdeep, as good as he is, has been prohibitively pricey. Leave aside this game; he was incredibly expensive even in the previous game. ” Cricbuzz quoted Deep Dasgupta as saying
“As a group, they haven’t performed well. He isn’t very expressive, but you can see by his body language that he needs one good spell to get back into the appropriate frame of mind,” he continued.

Mumbai got off to a rough start as they lost skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck while chasing a total of 215 runs. Cameron Green too failed to make an impression in the top order. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan’s innings, though, aided the five-time champs’ victory.
Suryakumar hit 66 runs off 31 balls, while Ishan Kishan hit 75 off 41 deliveries. Their brilliant knocks helped Mumbai amass 216 runs and win by six wickets.
