KL Rahul speaks out following LSG’s humiliating loss to GT. LSG defeat by GT by seven runs.
Lucknow were in complete control of the play until the final few overs of the game, chasing 136 runs against Gujarat Titans in play 30 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. However, the club failed to chase it down, putting LSG skipper KL Rahul on the spot for his ill-timed innings of 68 runs off 61 deliveries. Notably, Rahul was still on the crease when LSG needed 12 to win in the final over. But the home team lost four wickets in a row, resulting in a seven-run defeat.
Meanwhile, Rahul added during the post-match presentation that he couldn’t pinpoint where things went wrong against the defending champs. He was noticeably surprise and indicated that everything happen so fast that he couldn’t make out much. Nonetheless, the 31-year-old praised his bowlers for their efforts and noted that such things happen in the game of cricket.
“I’m not sure how it happen, but it did.” I’m not sure what went wrong, but we drop two points today; this is cricket. I thought we were excellent with the ball; 135 was 10 runs under par, the bowling was outstanding, and we started well with the bat; nonetheless, these things happen, and we’ll have to take it on the chin. But there is still a long way to go, 8 points from 7 games. We were on the wrong side of the result today. ” Rahul quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“We were well ahead in the game, and I wasn’t really trying to bat deep; I just wanted to play my shots and take on the bowlers. They bowl well in that 2-3 over period, by Noor and Jayant, we perhaps should have taken a few more chances with wickets in hand, they bowled decently, but I think we missed some boundary opportunities, the pressure got to us in the last 3-4 overs, we played well until then.” “They did, however, bowl well,” he continued.

‘Brainless from Lko’ – Venkatesh Prasad slams LSG for giving away match against GT
Notably, former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad dissatisfied with Lucknow’s run chase and question Rahul’s involvement. He claimed that LSG’s innings was ‘brainless,’ and that the home team botched their chase.
“Bottling a run chase with 30 needed off 35 balls and 9 wickets in hand necessitates some perplexing batting.” It happened with Punjab in 2020 on a few occasions, when they lost games they should have easily won. “As brilliant as Guj was with the ball and Hardik was with his captaincy, Lko was brainless,” Prasad commented on Twitter.
