Umran Malik of India beat his own record by bowling the quickest ball ever by an Indian bowler. Malik delivered a blistering 156 kph delivery in the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, January 10, topping his previous record of 155 kph established in the first T20I against Sri Lanka last week, on January 4.
Malik’s 155 kph delivery in the T20I game smashed Indian pace leader Jasprit Bumrah’s previous mark of 153.36 kph. While showcasing his talent, Malik caused issues for the Sri Lankan bowlers with his speed, as the visitors struggled to score off his deliveries in the opening ODI. The 23-year-old Srinagar-born pacer has surpassed big names like Bumrah and Mohammed Shami to become India’s quickest bowler.
Malik had his career-best ODI stats of 3/57 in the game, picking up three key wickets in eight overs. Malik has 10 wickets in six One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and his economy rate has remained at 6.21. He helped India win the opening game, giving the Men in Blue a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
