The IPL auction is expected to take place on December 23rd, with Kochi appearing as a viable location

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering delaying the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction by a week from its current date of December 16 and moving the site to Kochi. Informal contacts appear to have been sent to franchises informing them of the potential date change to December 23 and the new site.

The BCCI informs franchisees that an announcement about auction details will be made early this month, and believes that franchisees got he information about the site and delay date on Wednesday.

Informal communications seem to have gone to the franchises notifying them about the possible change in date to December 23 and the new venue

It has been reveals that the BCCI has been seeking for a prospective location after the Istanbul option fell through. It has been difficult to find a venue that can accommodate over 200 representatives. From the ten IPL teams, as well as enough presidential suits for the owners. It appears to be focusing on two southern cities: Goa (which falls within the South Zone) and Kochi. And eventually the Kerala city Kochi appears to have been chosen.
