“I Think It Was A Good Call.” says Ishan Kishan of the Mumbai Indians’ decision to release Tim David. Ishan Kishan state that the decision to drop Tim David was made for the betterment of the team. That spending some time on the bench would help the batter regain his mojo.
Tim David was purchased by the Mumbai Indians at the Indian Premier League mega auction earlier this year for Rs 8.25 crore. The hard-hitting batter appeared in the first two games of the season, but was dropped from the starting lineup after scoring 12 and 1. After missing the next six games, the 26-year-old returned to the playing XI against Gujarat Titans, hitting 44 off just 21 balls as MI earned their first victory of the season. David, on the other hand, really showed off his skills against SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.
David has scored 139 runs in five matches since his return, averaging just under 50.
With MI trailing by 144 runs in their chase of 194, David smashed a counter-attacking 46 off 18 balls.
In the 18th over, he smashed T Natarajan for 26, reducing the equation to a manageable 19 off 13.
David, on the other hand, ran himself out after attempting to keep the strike going.
SRH eventually won the game by three runs, giving them a slim chance of making the playoffs.
MI opener Ishan Kishan was asked about MI’s decision to bench. David after only two matches during a post-match press conference.
In response, Ishan stated that the decision was made for the betterment of the team and suggested that the batter spend some time on the bench to regain his mojo.
