Mumbai Indians suffered their ninth loss of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Monday, falling to Kolkata Knight Riders by 52 runs at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Mumbai Indians’ batters failed to chase down KKR’s 165-run total. Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets for the Rohit Sharma-led side to restrict KKR to 165, but the batters failed to capitalize. However, during KKR’s innings, a funny incident occurred that left everyone, including Rohit Sharma, in stitches.
Kieron Pollard was charging into bowl on the fifth delivery of the tenth over. But the ball slipped out of his grip and struck on-field umpire Chris Gaffney. Pollard and Rohit were both seen laughing after that.

Pollard has had a disappointing season thus far, scoring 144 runs in 11 games. Pollard has four wickets at an average of 31.59 with the ball in his hands.
In the game between MI and KKR, the latter batted first and finished with a score of 165/9 in 20 overs. KKR were cruising at 123/2 in the 13th over, but Jasprit Bumrah stepped up to take five wickets and keep KKR under the 170-run mark.
KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana each scored 43 runs.
No Mumbai Indians batter could stay at the crease for long periods of time, and they were eventually bowled out for 113. Cummins took three wickets, while Andre Russell took two, as KKR won by 52 runs.
With only four points, the Mumbai Indians are currently at the bottom of the points table.
