Shubham Garhwal, the Rajasthan Royals’ new IPL 2022 acquisition, spoke about his idol Yuvraj Singh and how he inspired him back in 2011.
Yuvraj Singh is a fan of Shubham Garhwal, who was signe by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
In an interview with RR, Garhwal expressed his desire to smash sixes like Yuvraj. He also talked about how Yuvraj inspired him during the 2011 ODI World Cup, when he was instrumental in India’s victory. “I was really young back then, playing gully cricket in Jodhpur. And I couldn’t even hold the bat with the proper grip.”
However, seeing Yuvraj Singh have a fantastic tournament in 2011 inspired me greatly. I’m a left-handed batter, so I use to admire his ability to hit the ball with such ease. “I believe that was a period in my life when everything changed for the better,” he said.
During the mega auction, Rajasthan purchased Garhwal for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

When asked about joining the Rajasthan Royals, he expressed excitement at the prospect of working with Kumar Sangakarra.
“It gives me great pleasure to represent the Royals.” I’m from Rajasthan, and this is the most important event of my life.
The joy on my parents’ faces motivates me to give everything I have for the team. Sanga Sir is also someone with whom I am looking forward to working.
“I’m confident that his advice will help me improve my game because he’s one of the best left-hand pitchers in the game,” he said.

Garhwal was notice at the Royals High Performance Centre in Nagpur during the trials.
