Smriti Mandhana, the opening batter for India’s women’s squad, became the first Indian player to score a century in the Women’s Big Bash League on Wednesday.

The accomplishment was accomplished at Harrup Park in Queensland during a game between the Sydney Thunder and the Melbourne Renegades.
Mandhana, who plays for the Thunder, was undefeated with a score of 114*, but her side couldn’t get over the finish line, as the Renegades triumphed by a slim margin. Thunder choose to bowl against the Renegades after winning the toss.
The Renegades got off to a bad start after being given the opportunity to bat first. Openers Jemimah Rodrigues and Carly Leeson were bowled for cheap by Samantha Bates and Issy Wong, lowering the team to 9/2.
Evelyn Jones and Harmanpreet Kaur, on the other hand, steadied the ship, accumulating 91 runs for the third wicket before the former was removed for a 33-ball 42 by Bates.
Harmanpreet, on the other hand, continued her onslaught, leading the Renegades to a total of 175/4. Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 81 from 55 balls, while Duffin was run out on the Renegades’ penultimate ball.
The Thunder got off to a good start in pursuit of a total of 176 runs when opener Sammy Jo-Johnson and Phoebe Litchfield were both bowled by Harmanpreet and Rhiann O’Donnell in quick succession.

Thunder, on the other hand, lost the game by four runs, therefore ending their chances of making the semi-finals.
Mandhana’s 114* is tied for the second-highest individual score by a hitter in a WBBL game. In a game against the Melbourne Stars in 2017. Ashleigh Gardner also scored 114 points for the Sydney Sixers.
Renegades, on the other hand, are leading the points table after 12 games with 18 points.
