West Indies To Host 2022 ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup From January 14

West Indies has been chosen to host the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2022, according to an ICC statement made on Wednesday.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, the Caribbean nation will host the tournament, which will feature 14 countries and 48 matches. The ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2022 will take place from January 14 to February 5.

Chris Tetley, the ICC’s Head of Events, said in a statement:

“The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup is such an exciting and special tournament, bringing together the future stars of the game and giving them an unrivaled experience of competing on the global stage”.

“We are looking forward to the 2022 edition to see who emerges as the future stars”, he said.

“We are delighting that the West Indies will be hosting this event. And we wish all the teams the very best in their preparations for the tournament. And to Cricket West Indies in organizing the event”, he further added.

According to the ICC, ten venues will be used for the tournament. Which will take place in four Caribbean countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, St Kitts, and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.

It’s also worth noting that Scotland has entered the tournament in place of New Zealand. The Blackcaps are unable to compete because of mandatory quarantine regulations for minors. In their country, which they would have had to deal with on their way back from the event.

In addition, the event will be divided into four groups. Bangladesh, the defending champions, is in Group A with England, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. South Africa, Ireland, and Uganda are in Group B with India.

Pakistan is groupes with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Papua New Guinea in Group C. Meanwhile, the West Indies, who are hosting the tournament, are in Group D with Australia, Sri Lanka, and Scotland.
