Former test spinner Ashley Mallett, who died at the age of 76. After a long battle with cancer was remembered Saturday as a humble man. Who played an important role in Australian cricket.
Ironically, Mallet’s soft verbal nature, called the “Rowdy“, has tested 38 times since his debut against England in 1968. Averaging 29.84 times and winning 132 wickets.
He holds the highest number at his fingertips in Australia at 859 against Pakistan. In Adelaide in 1972, but his efforts in India are welcomed as his greatest.

Cricket Australia chairman Richard Freudenstein said.
“Former Test Spinner Ashley Mallett was a wonderful player, admired journalist, and highly acclaimed author,”
On the 19 6970 tours, he took 28 wickets, played an important role in Australia. And won a rare series victory in India.
“He played a significant part in Australian cricket not only as a player but as a prolific storyteller who has preserved the memories of some of the game’s greatest and moments in time for people to enjoy through the ages.
Mallet trained many young weirdos after his playing career ended. And established the Spin Australia Program and Spin Academy in Sri Lanka.
“Ashley was a humble man whose deeds outweighed his reserved personality.”
He also wrote many books, including the biography of the great Victor Trumper and his fellow spin magician, Clarrie Grimmet.
