1st ODI: West Indies beat Pakistan by 45 runs in the first women’s One-Day International on Monday.

Thanks to Deandra Dottin’s magnificent century. Following Pakistan’s stand-in skipper Sidra Nawaz’s decision to bowl after winning the toss, the West Indies opener hammered 132 off 146 balls with 18 fours and two sixes.
This was Dottin’s best performance in the competition. Dottin and Hayley Matthews shared 119 runs for the third wicket, with Matthews scoring 57 off 67 (eight fours), as the tourists posted 253 for eight before Shemaine Campbelle hit a quickfire 23 off 20.
Anam Amin’s first five-wicket haul was eclipsed by Dottin’s century and Pakistan’s final defeat. The Lahore left-arm orthodox took five for 35, with two of her ten overs being maidens. Dottin, Rashada Williams (15 off 40), Hayley Matthews, Campbelle, and Kycia Knight were all taken out by Anam (six off six).
Fatima Sana, who had a five-wicket haul in the fifth and final One-Day International against the West Indies in Antigua in July, grabbed two for 65 in this match.
1st ODI: This match was a watershed event in the 20-year-career old’s because she opened the bowling for Pakistan.
Against the same opposition, she bowled against a net bowler. Two years ago when they were in town for three T20Is.
Pakistan’s response was a shambles. Sidra Amin, the opener, was caught on the final ball of the second over, and Ayesha Zafar, the one-down batter. Was LBW on the last ball of the eighth over. Shakera Selman threw both batters out of the game.
Iram Javed came back with a 34-ball 40 as she and Kainat Imtiaz (24 off 60) shared 57 runs for the fourth wicket. But the former’s dismissal effectively ended the game in the visitors’ favor.
Aliya Riaz led the way with 46 points out of a possible 61. (three fours). With Pakistan 56 runs behind the goal, she was run out in the 47th over.
On Thursday, the two teams will play the second One-Day International at the same location.
