Scotland’s Michael Jones reacts to Josh Hazlewood’s controversial statement. Hazlewood previously stated that they might manipulate the result against Scotland to prevent England from progressing to the next stage of the T20 World Cup.
After defeating Namibia by nine wickets, Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood made a controversial statement. Mentioning that the team might suffer a defeat at the hands of Scotland in their next match. Allowing England to be eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024. The statement generate a lot of buzz, and it has that if ICC officials find Australia guilty of manipulating the match result, their captain Mitchell Marsh will face a two-match ban.
However, Scotland is unconcerned about Hazlewood’s comment. As opener Michael Jones stated that the team was laughing while watching it live. The 26-year-old admitted that he understands the rivalry between Australia and England and would not mind if David Warner opened the bowling for the Kangaroos. Jones also joked that he doesn’t know any Australian players but is willing to accept favours.
“I was watching it live and laughing. In any way that it may arrive. The rivalry between Australia and England is intense, and if Australia wants to play it that way, that’s great. Perhaps David Warner could open the bowling. I don’t know any Australian players, but it would be nice if we could have a quick chat and work something out,” Jones was quoted as saying by the BBC.

I’m certain they will come all guns blazing: Jones
Despite Hazlewood’s remarks, Jones is aware that Australia might finally show up with all guns blazing. He said that in the end, the players will do everything in their power to win the game and eliminate the background noise.
“I’m sure the Aussies will come out swinging since they have a reputation for being incredibly thorough. We’ll try our hardest to win the game, ignore any background noise, and avoid becoming too distracted by it all. However, I watched the Hazelwood interview when [former captain] Tim Paine stated that they should field half a side and that you should always have the end goal in mind. All we want is to get through,” Jones remarked.
