Nayan Mongia targets Babar Azam ahead of India match

Nayan Mongia targets Babar Azam ahead of India match. Against the USA, Babar Azam scored 44 runs off of 43 deliveries.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, is struggling in the game’s shortest format. The 29-year-old failed to deliver in two T20Is against England. Their opening T20 World Cup game against the United States, Babar score 44 runs off 43 deliveries, raising questions about his ability in this format.

Pakistan’s batters, including Babar, had a difficult time against the USA, and as a result, they lost the match in the Super Over. The Men in Green are under tremendous pressure to defeat India on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Prior to that, Pakistan captain Babar was criticized by former Indian cricketer Nayan Mongia, who said that although Babar is frequently compared to Virat Kohli, the two are not even close.

Babar Azam’s form is extremely concerning, according to Mongia’s analysis of his performance

The cricket player puts undue pressure on himself. He added that Pakistan’s batting unit disintegrates as soon as Babar is unable to produce, and he feels that pressure is contributing to Babar’s decline at the bat.

“His batting has been struggling for the past few years. He appears out of shape. He’s placing too much pressure on himself, thinking he has to stay there and score big for the team. If he is under strain like this and the squad does not back him in batting and fielding. Mental pressure would undoubtedly affect every hitter,” Mongia told Star Sports.

“Pressure has been put on him that he is the best batter and has to stay there and score big. You compare him with Virat Kohli and he is not even close to Virat Kohli. So the pressure is on Babar Azam and the Pakistan team that till he fires, everything is fine, but if he gets out, Pakistan’s batting collapses,” the 54-year-old added.

Pakistan will square off against their arch-nemesis India in New York

The forthcoming match between India and Pakistan is absolutely crucial. Their hopes of qualifying for the Super 8 will be severely damaged if they lose to India. Notably, on Sunday, June 9, both of the bitter rivals will square off at New York’s Nassau International Cricket Stadium.
