Michael Vaughan opens up about Rinku Singh’s subpar form. “He’s had opportunities and he came quite early on some occasions, but couldn’t maximise that chance, He’s a terrific player who can strike the ball,” Vaughan said.
Rinku Singh, a star Indian batter, was one of the most notable players left out of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The middle-order batter has been one of the team’s best since rising to prominence with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2023. Interestingly, Rinku has played 15 T20Is and scored 356 runs at an average of 89.
He has a strike rate of 176.24 and is one of India’s best players in this format. Despite his impressive form, Rinku Singh has failed to perform in the IPL 2024. He’s scored 168 points in 13 games, averaging 18.67.
Furthermore, Rinku Singh did not receive enough game time in the early stages of the IPL 2024. According to former England batter Michael Vaughan, when he did get chances, he failed to capitalize on them. “He had opportunities, and he came in early on some occasions, but he didn’t take advantage of them.
He’s a fantastic player who can strike the ball. His level is so high right now because we expected it. “In T20s, you have to take so many risks that every now and then, you have a run of games where things don’t go your way,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
“You are talking about trying to hit it out of the ground on a regular basis, and every now and then you can get caught. As long as his mindset is purely to be aggressive – he’s a better player that way – he will be absolutely fine,” he added.

I have seen him in the last few years: Vaughan
Furthermore, Michael Vaughan reflected on Rinku Singh’s lean phase, stating that it will not last long and that he will return to top form soon. He revealed that Rinku is simply going through a difficult time and is unable to bat on a regular basis.
“I’ve seen him in recent years simply explode. He averages 80 for India because he does not leave at the end; hes a quality player. He isn’t a one-hit wonder; I don’t think we’ll be wondering where Rinku Singh has gone in two years! He has disappeared. “He’s not the player we thought he was,” Vaughan explained.
