Shubman Gill’s witty response to Harsha Bhogle post. Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a nail-biting match at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the 17th IPL season.
Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a nail-biting match at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the 17th IPL season. GT successfully chased down a daunting target of 197 runs, winning with the final ball of the match.
RR had been in great form, winning their first four matches of the season. They scored a challenging total of 196/3 in 20 overs, thanks to impressive knocks from Sanju Samson (68* off 38) and Riyan Parag (76 off 48). GT’s batting lineup, led by Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan, rose to the occasion, guiding the team to a three-wicket victory.

Targeting 45 in three overs and that is very much gettable: Shubman Gill
After the match, veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle congratulated Gill on GT’s third win but suggested that his side had left it too late to get the job done.
“Well done; you received two points tonight. “I must admit that some of us thought you left it too late, but you did an excellent job today,” Bhogle told Gill in a post-match interview. However, Gill’s response was a clear warning to GT’s competitors: “Thank you. Do not think like that while we are playing.
The GT captain also stated that the team’s goal was to score 45 runs in the final three overs, which they believed they could accomplish. This mindset, combined with exceptional performances from Tewatia (22 off 11) and Rashid Khan (24* off 11), enabled GT to pull off a remarkable victory.
“We were targeting 45 in three overs, which is very achievable, and that was our mindset. Mathematically, both batters need to score 9-ball 22 runs or so, and if one of the batters goes berserk, it will get over two or three balls earlier,” Gill explained.
Speaking about his dismissal and Rashid-Tewatia’s magnificent conclusion, he said, “I would have liked to finish the game, but I’m extremely satisfied with how Rashid bhai and Rahul bhai finished it. We dominated more than half of the last game as well, but our negative phases were particularly dreadful. Winning the game with the last ball is an incredible sensation. “He (Rashid) is such a fantastic player, someone you always want on your team,” Gill added.
GT is presently sixth in the points standings with six points, and their next game is at home against the Delhi Capitals on April 17th.
