Deepak Dhapola talks up about IPL hopes following consecutive hat tricks. The 33-year-old scored successive hat-tricks against Puducherry and Delhi.
Deepak Dhapola, a fast bowler from Uttarakhand, has been making headlines in the cricket world for his consecutive hat tricks in the Ranji Trophy 2024. The 33-year-old scored his first in the second innings of Uttarakhand’s third match against Puducherry.
In the following match against Delhi, the right-arm quick added to his hat-trick by dismissing Arpit Rana, Yash Dhull, and Kshitiz Sharma for ducks in the second innings. However, neither of his performances helped his team win, as Uttarakhand suffered back-to-back losses.
He ranks fourth on the points table thanks to his outstanding bowling performances, having taken 23 wickets from seven innings at an average of 12.95 and an economy of 2.78. Notably, Dhapola began his cricket training and professional career under Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma. However, after being on standby for Delhi for so long, he chose to move to Calcutta.
“I started playing professional cricket under Rajkumar. Play cricket in Delhi for almost ten to twelve years. I was in the standbys and even played in Calcutta (for a while). I continue taking wickets but never got a chance (with the state teams). So I chose to migrate to Uttarakhand. By God’s grace and hard work, I’ve been taking wickets on a regular basis,” Deepak told News18.
Speaking about his hopes of participating in the IPL, Dhapola stated that he is currently focused solely on playing good cricket.

“See, I’ve focused solely on playing good cricket, and if God has something in store for me, it will happen. I compete with myself to improve day by day. I am really confident in myself. Faith from teammates and coaches is beneficial. “When people have expectations of you, you become even more motivated to work on them,” he added.
Earlier, Dhapola received plaudits from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah for his spectacular 8/35 against Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2022.
