Zaka Ashraf steps down as the head of the PCB Management Committee. Ashraf, who joined the PCB’s Board of Governors in July 2023, succeeded Najam Sethi.
Zaka Ashraf, head of the PCB Management Committee, resigned on Friday, January 19. Ashraf, who joined PCB’s Board of Governors in July 2023, replaced Najam Sethi. It is worth noting that caretaker Prime Minister Kakar extended the rope for Ashraf-led Management in 2023.
Under Ashraf’s leadership, Pakistan competed in two big events (Asia Cup and World Cup 2023), but did not perform well in either. While Pakistan failed to qualify for the Asia Cup finals, they performed poorly in the huge ICC event and were unable to advance to the semi-finals.
“I was working for the benefit of cricket, but this is not how we can work. According to sources present at the meeting and stated by Geo News, it is now up to Prime Minister [Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar] to propose [who will take my position],” said Ashraf.

Currently, Mohammad Hafeez serves as team director, while Wahab Riaz heads the selection committee. However, the team has yet to win a single game under the new government and thrash 0-3 in the away Test series with Australia. On the other side, Pakistan is also struggling in the present T20I series against New Zealand. They have lost all four games in the series so far, with the last show scheduled for Sunday, January 21st.
