Moeen Ali picks top five Indian cricketers of all time, keeps MS Dhoni on top

Moeen Ali picks top five Indian cricketers of all time, keeps MS Dhoni on top. In the Indian Premier League, Moeen Ali plays for the Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali has chosen his favorite five Indian cricketers of all time. The 36-year-old kept his Chennai Super Kings captain, MS Dhoni, on top, followed by India’s batting great Virat Kohli. Notably, Dhoni is the second most successful captain in limited-overs cricket, having guided India to three ICC Trophy victories. Kohli, on the other hand, is the greatest modern-day batsman across forms, having scored the second-most hundreds in international cricket (80).

“For me, Dhoni is number one. He was an excellent player, yet many people forget this. “Virat (Kohli) No.2 because he is great and one of the best players,” stated Moeen in a recent interview with Samp Group. He has won everything as India’s captain.

Ali chose Sachin Tendulkar, the most prolific batter in international cricket history, as his third option. Tendulkar is regarded as one of the best batters in history, having scored 100 hundreds in international cricket.

“It kills me to say this, but he (Sachin) is No. 3 because he is Sachin, and I believe he pioneered the technique of correct batting. Sunil Gavaskar was also present, although he was from before my era, so I didn’t see him often. But Sachin was on a different level,” Moeen explained.

On the fourth place, the off-spinner kept the destructive opener Virender Sehwag, who was notorious for giving many bowlers of his era nightmares. The opening batsman has an 82.23 strike rate in Tests and is one of just four players to have scored two triple hundreds.

“My favourite batter is Virender Sehwag because he was unique. He hit enormous runs in Tests, ODIs, and T20s and completely demolished bowlers,” he added.

People have compared me to Yuvraj Singh: Moeen Ali

At number five, the Birmingham-born batsman retained the great India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who helped the Men in Blue break their 28-year ODI World Cup drought in 2011 with outstanding performances with both bat and ball. The southpaw was named the prestigious ‘Player of the event’ after collecting 362 runs and taking 15 wickets during the event.

“I admired Yuvraj Singh as a batter and attempted to emulate him to some extent. The bat swing, the way he played, and his bat swing were all impressive to witness. When in form, he was the best player to watch,” he said.
