Wasim Akram frustrated with foreign coaches in Pakistan’s system. Pakistan have recently hired Mohammad Hafeez as the new head coach.
Following Pakistan’s dismal performance in the last ODI World Cup, renowned cricketer Wasim Akram stated his displeasure with foreign coaches in Pakistan cricket. According to the 57-year-old, the coaches aren’t helping the national team progress since they don’t travel to the academy (NCA) or stay with the squad for the full year. He claimed that foreign coaches merely arrive on a tour and then leave, which is not beneficial to the team.
Wasim Akram frustrated that their participation is restrict and that there is no long-term growth. He advocated for greater active participation and for Pakistanis to coach the national team. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir agrees, claiming that foreign coaches have simply fooled Pakistan in recent years.
“Our foreign coaches aren’t always here (in Pakistan). They are simply here for tours. Make no attempt to attend the NCA and coach young athletes or other coaches. They don’t pay attention to man-management or the psychological side. “Unhone to laddu khilaya hua hai hum sab ko (we are being duped),” Akram was cited by DNA as adding.
