Anjum Ara, Mohammed Shami’s mother, hospitalized just hours before the ODI World Cup final. With 24 wickets from seven games, Mohammed Shami ended the tournament as the tournament’s best wicket-taker.
Anjum Ara, the mother of veteran India bowler Mohammed Shami, hospitalized ahead of the high-octane ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia. On November 19, the match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Australia won the championship for the sixth time.
Shami’s mother was unable to witness the much-anticipated match on Sunday. Ara, who has some serious health conditions, had dizzy on Sunday morning and brought to the hospital. The pacer’s whole family had planned to attend the game, but only his older brother, Haseeb, and his family made the trip to Ahmedabad.
According to News 18, who recently spoke with Ara about her ongoing health difficulties. She did, however, have a normal check-up on Sunday before being brought to the hospital. Meanwhile, Mohammed Kaif, Shami’s younger brother and former India domestic cricketer, was oblivious of the issue.

Mohammed Shami best figures in ODI World Cup 2023
Mohammed Shami has had an unforgettable campaign in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. The 33-year-old has missed India’s first four games in the tournament. However, he prove his worth after being include in the playing XI against New Zealand in India’s fifth game at the HPCA Stadium, in Dharamsala, claiming a fifer and going on to win the Player of the Match.
The fast bowler then showcased another notable performance in the group stage clash against Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He finished with excellent figures of 5/18 during the match where the Men in Blue thrashed by 302 runs. Notably, he emerged as the Player of the Match in that game too.
Shami’s other standout effort came against the Kiwis in the semifinals in Mumbai. In terms of the game, India scored 397 runs after opting to bat first. The pacer then completed with career-best figures of 7/57, earning him the tournament’s third Player of the Match title. With 24 wickets from seven games, the 33-year-old ended the tournament as the competition’s best wicket-taker.
