Mohammad Rizwan fails to execute a ‘MS Dhoni’ as the ball slides between his legs . Mohammad Rizwan was nutmegged as the ball made a quick spin.
On Saturday, November 11, England and Pakistan will face off in Match 44 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. England captain Joss Buttler won the toss in the crucial game for both sides and, much to Pakistan’s chagrin, chose to bat first, therefore ending Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
England had a strong start to their innings, with openers Dawid Malan (31 off 39 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (59 off 61 balls) scoring 82 runs for the first wicket off 81 balls. Pakistan, on the other hand, made a comeback by removing the opening pair, bringing Ben Stokes and Joe Root to the crease.
Meanwhile, during England’s innings, Mohammad Rizwan failed to gather the ball between his legs, reminding fans of former India captain MS Dhoni. The event occurred on the fourth ball of Shadab Khan’s 24th over, as Stokes tried a reverse sweep. The ball, however, twisted swiftly and went between Rizwan’s legs for four 4 byes. When Rizwan missed the ball, commentator Nasser Hussian recalled MS Dhoni, who used to draw his pads together to prevent the ball from nutmegging him; however, Rizwan did not do so.

Ben Stokes top-scored for England again
Returning to the game, Stokes and Root put on a mammoth 132-run third-wicket partnership. Stokes went on to hit 84 (76) with 11 fours and two sixes, capitalizing on a respite from Shaheen Afridi. Root, on the other hand, went on to score 60 (72) with four fours in his innings.
England finished on 337/9 in their allocated 50 overs, with to excellent cameos from Harry Brook (30 off 17) and Jos Buttler (27 off 18). Haris Rauf was Pakistan’s best bowler, taking 3/64 in 10 overs, while Shaheen Afridi (2/72) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (2/74) both picked up two wickets apiece.
