Samarawickrama engages in a verbal brawl with Shanto after Angelo Mathews’ timed out dismissal. The tempers flared on the field in the ongoing Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Match 38 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as several heated moments were witness during the game. After Angelo Mathews’ adjudged out following an appeal by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan. The decision didn’t go down well with the entire Sri Lankan team who were left annoy by the contentious call.
As a result, numerous heated face-offs occurred during the game’s second innings. One such instance occurred after the first wicket fell, when Najmul Hossain Shanto stepped out to the middle. Shanto, it appears, approached Shakib about appealing the timed-out dismissal.
When Shanto walk out to bat, the Sri Lankan squad remember his antics and greet him at the crease with a few ‘not so decent’ insults. Sadeera Samarawickrama even seen approaching the Bangladesh batter for a brief conversation. The on-field umpire, however, separated the pair.
Shanto appeared to be energized by Samarawickrama’s remarks. As he went on to play a superb knock of 90 (101) with the aid of 12 boundaries. Shanto had a big 169-run third-wicket stand with Shakib Al Hasan (82 off 65). Enabling Bangladesh to steady their innings following two early knocks.

Charith Asalanka scored a brilliant hundred in the first innings
Bangladesh won the match by three wickets because to their big partnership. Bangladesh broke their six-match losing run in the present World Cup with their victory, moving them to seventh place in the ODI World Cup 2023 Points Table.
Earlier in the first innings, Sri Lanka were all out for 279 in 49.3 overs, despite Charith Asalanka’s brilliant century (108 off 105). Tanzim Hasan Sakib ended as Bangladesh’s top bowler, with stats of 3/80 in 10 overs.
