Iftikhar Ahmed comments on Pakistan’s continuous food criticism. Pakistan and New Zealand will square off in Bengaluru in Match 35.
On Saturday, November 4, Pakistan will face New Zealand in Match 35 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The game is critical for Pakistan, who sorely need a win to keep their dreams of reaching the semi-finals alive.
Before their must-win match, Pakistan allrounder Iftikhar Ahmed addressed the team’s criticism in the present World Cup, with a particular attention on the players’ ‘biryani eating’ habits. When asked about the difficulties, Iftikhar stated that no one suggests the players eat Biryani when they win; it only comes up when they start losing.
“When we lose, everyone says that no one in the team is giving their all, but when we win, no one says that we are eating Biryani; please explain why this is the case.” If someone is eating Biryani or doing something that harms the country’s reputation, we would oppose it,” Iftikhar remarked at the pre-match news conference.
In terms of Pakistan’s qualifying prospects, Iftikhar stated that the squad is fully aware that they must maintain their net run rate (NRR).
“We understand that we must maintain our net run rate (NRR).” We had already played in Bengaluru [against Australia], so we are familiar with the conditions. In the early phases of a game in India, you must score runs rapidly. There isn’t much for bowlers on Indian pitches. We put up our field based on the pitch. “We take a slip if the ball isn’t moving much,” he continued.

Pakistan need to win beat NZ and ENG by a big margin
Notably, Pakistan is sixth on the points table with three wins from seven matches and six points with a net run rate of -0.024. To make the semi-finals, Babar Azam’s team must win both of their remaining games against New Zealand and England. The 1992 champions are also contingent on the results of Afghanistan, Australia, and New Zealand in their remaining games.
