Mohammad Nabi advise Babar Azam for leaving his crease too soon during the PAK-AFG match. Babar Azam batted brilliantly against Afghanistan, scoring 74 (92).
Pakistan and Afghanistan will face off in Match 22 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Monday, October 23 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Captain Babar Azam of Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. The choice was validated by openers Abdullah Shafique (58 off 75 balls) and Imam-ul-Haq (17 off 22 balls), who put on 56 runs for the first wicket in 61 balls.
Following his dismissal, Pakistan’s innings was taken forward by Babar Azam. During his innings, a memorable occurrence on the field occurred when Mohammad Nabi warned him not to leave his crease too soon. Nabi stepped in to bowl the first ball of the 16th over when the event occurred. When he saw Babar walk out of the crease, he came to a halt in his delivery stride.

Babar went on to bat brilliantly for 74 (92) with four fours and a six in his innings. In addition to him, Shadab Khan (40 off 38) and Iftikhar Ahmed (40 off 27) contributed significantly to Pakistan’s total of 282/7 in their allotted 50 overs.
Noor Ahmad was the highlight of Afghanistan’s bowlers on his World Cup debut, taking 3/49 in ten overs, while Naveen-ul-Haq (2/52, 7 overs) took two wickets.
Afghanistan defeat Pakistan for first time in ODIs
In response, Afghanistan launched their pursuit with a bang, with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65 off 53 balls) and Ibrahim Zadran (87 off 113) putting on a mammoth 130-run stand for the first wicket off 127 balls.
Following their dismissals, captain Hasmatullah Shahidi (48* off 45) and Rahmat Shah (77* off 84) put up an unbeaten 86-run stand to help Pakistan knock down the mark in 49 overs and record a historic 8-wicket win. Zadran was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
