IND vs NZ: Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah drop vital catches

IND vs NZ: Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah drop vital catches. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell were dropped by Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah, respectively.

On Sunday, October 22, India and New Zealand will face off in Match 21 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, who dismissed openers Devon Conway (0 off 9) and Will Young (17 off 27) early in the innings, backed up their judgment.

However, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell’s amazing 159-run partnership got their team back into the contest. After settling down, the duo targeted the Indian bowling and made full use of the missed catches. It all started with Mohammed Shami’s fifth delivery of the tenth over. Ravindra, who was batting on 12* (21), was forced to play one in the air straight to Ravindra Jadeja at point.

To no one’s surprise, India’s best fielder ended up dropping a sitter. Further ahead in the innings, Daryl Mitchell was dropped at long off by Jasprit Bumrah while batting on 70 in the 33rd over against Kuldeep Yadav. Mitchell whacked a flighted delivery towards long off on the sixth ball of the over, but Bumrah failed to collect it and the ball went over for a boundary.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami returned India to the game with his third five-wicket haul in ODIs. The right-arm seamer finished with 5/54 in ten overs as New Zealand were dismissed for 273 in 50 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 2/73 in 10 overs, while Jasprit Bumrah (1/45) and Mohammed Siraj (1/45) also contributed.
