Netherlands register shock win against South Africa
South Africa met the Netherlands in game 15 of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The Netherlands batted first, and the team got off to a slow start, as openers Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd only managed to score two and 18 runs, respectively.
Following the fall of the top order, it was Scott Edwards’ knock that contributed 78 runs to the board, and with some help from the lower order, the Netherlands managed to record a total of 245 runs on the board in the first innings.
Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each for the Proteas, while Gerald Coetzee and Keshav Maharaj struck once each.
South Africa planned to keep their winning streak alive by chasing down the target; but, the Netherlands had a different strategy. As the top order crumbled, openers Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock scored 16 and 20 runs, respectively. David Miller had the most runs scored in the game, scoring 43 in 52 pitches.
